JEROME BETTIS PICKS NYG-PHI AS WEEK 5’S MOST INTERESTING MATCHUP
“I’m looking at this game because neither one is out of the division,” Bettis said. “This division is so bad that an 0-4 team still has a really, really good chance at winning the division. And there are some questions when you look at these game. Is Coughlin’s team still behind him or have they run off? Is that defense going to show up?”
“Then you look at the Eagles,” Bettis continued. “Well — Chip Kelly’s offense, do they still believe that offense is a viable option in the NFL? And can their defense rise up and win a game? I think that game — there are clearly going to be a lot of questions answered.”
The Giants and Eagles have the longest standing rivalry in the NFC East, dating back to 1933. New York has dropped eight of is last 10 contests against Philadephia dating back to Dec. 8, 2008 and is 1-2 against the team at MetLife Stadium.
Analyst Damian Woody picked Detriot at Green Bay as his game to watch while Tim Hasselback, the third of the panel, chose the Seahawks at the Colts.
“I think a win would be big for this locker room and the morale and just get that feeling again. We work hard. We work hard each week and the reason you work hard is for that feeling after a game when you can celebrate and you can feel good about all the work you put in and when you don’t have anything to show for it, it gets frustrating. We’ve just got to keep grinding, keep getting better and know that’s the only way that wins are going to start coming is if we continue to work really hard and have great preparation and great understanding of what we’re trying to do.” -QB Eli Manning
