ELI MANNING RANKED NO. 14 MOST INFLUENTIAL PERSON IN NJ SPORTS
Quarterback Eli Manning is the second Giant to break into Star-Ledger columnist Steve Politi’s “Juice List” in as many days. Manning (No. 14) joins general manager Jerry Reese (No. 19) as two of the state’s top 25 most influential sports figures.
“Has it been 10 years already?” Politi wrote. “Manning, easily the most identifiable athlete who plays in New Jersey, will begin his 10th season at Giants quarterback this season, and does it a few weeks after the release of a hilarious commercial with him and brother Peyton acting as rap stars.”
Manning moves six spots down from his No. 8 ranking in 2012 and appears on the list for the third time since 2009.
» 2012, No. 8. “We usually try to keep athletes off this list — their juice is mostly on the field — but the Giants’ two-time Super Bowl MVP can move the needle in this market the same way his brother once did in Indianapolis.”
» 2009, No. 19. “The first athlete to make the list just signed a contract to make him the highest paid player in the NFL. The money will buy him a lot of things, but not a return spot on this list if the Giants flop.”

“I have made the cuts and I think watching it on film, seeing myself, I’m not looking down, I’m not hesitant to put my knee on the ground and I think yesterday was a big day for me to get out there on the turf and make cuts and wasn’t hesitant and each and every day I want to come back and practice. My knee’s not swollen up, it’s not hurting and that’s the biggest thing.” -Terrell Thomas
