Wilson makes All-Pro second team at KR

Posted by Dan Salomone on January 14, 2013 – 9:00 am

wilsonAfter leading the NFL in kickoff return yards in 2012, rookie David Wilson has been named to The Associated Press All-Pro second team as a kick returner.

Wilson garnered three votes of the national panel of 50 media members, while Baltimore’s Jacoby Jones earned first-team honors at the position with 37.5.

Wilson, who was the only Giant to pick up All-Pro accolades this season, finished with 1,533 return yards, including 227 against the New Orleans Saints in Week 14 when he also broke a 97-yard return touchdown. In that game, Wilson became the only player in NFL history with at least 200 kickoff return yards and 100 rushing yards in a single contest.

Two other Giants received All-Pro votes. Guard Chris Snee picked up two while safety Stevie Brown had six votes.

Wilson should enjoy the “honor” while he can, for if he is to prove worthy of a first round selection, he will be one of two starting backs in 2013. Ergo, he will not be assigned to kickoffs.
