Eli up for FedEx “Air” Award

Manning threw a career-high five touchdowns – the fifth time in Giants history that a quarterback threw for at least that many — and earned himself a nomination for the final regular-season FedEx Air Player of the Week Award.

» New York Giants QB Eli Manning completed 13 of 21 passes for 208 yards and five touchdowns in the Giants’ 42-7 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. VOTE NOW
» Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning completed 23 of 29 passes for 304 yards and three touchdowns as the Broncos beat the Kansas City Chiefs 38-3.
» Minnesota Vikings QB Christian Ponder completed 16 of 28 passes for 234 yards and three touchdowns in the Vikings’ 37-34 victory over the Green Bay Packers.

I cannot help but continue to like Reese’s structured approach to being the GM for the Giants. Despoite the many complaints throughout the season, I thought the coaches did well. I am left with the early conclusion upon this unfortuate season that some players did not play up to their motices….and unhappily, I do not see many of them admitting their part in faiing to aid the team to win more games. There was far too much of: “well, we came back strong last year….”. Someone failed to tell them that “last year” doesn’t count anymore and next year is here and last year was a misery..
