Falling Short Of Expectations
Teamed men of power and exquisite grace
Alas, will finish in what’s second place
When what they could falls short of what they should;
The essence of what’s useless and no good
Though fairly paid to harder rabbits chase.
That higher power for which reach we all,
The extra effort for which game does call
And all the promise that’s inherent in
The goal which is in the intent to win
When faced with better, is but bound to fall.
Teams may believe in how hard did they try
They may be the best that can money buy
But it’s not money on the field in play
But men who know they must win game today
If for tomorrow’s interest they would vie.

It looks good on the front of a program but I’ve waited all year to see these rookies make a real difference in the outcome of our games. But with a few exceptions , it never happened!
Jerry Reese missed the boat this year!
