Giants helmet Lexa Maggie logo

It isn’t every day that you hear about a 13-year-old girl who is such a fan of the New York Giants that she wants her bat mitzvah party to have a football theme.  Boys, perhaps.  Girls, not so much.

But that’s what Lexa asked her family for, and Enchanted Icing, which specializes in custom celebration cakes out of lower Westchester County, N.Y., was able to provide.

Congratulations, Lexa, and thanks for being loyal blue!

Daily Blitz: Giants welcome Saints to home turf

Posted by Dan Salomone on December 6, 2012 – 9:00 am

breesgiantsThe Giants welcomed the change of scenery when they found out they would face the Saints in the Meadowlands this year and not the Bayou. New York has lost three straight games to New Orleans, and the last two came in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, as it is now called.

In those games – 2009 and 2011 – the Giants were outscored, 97-51, including last year’s outpouring of 577 yards (second-most in Saints history) on the eventual Super Bowl champions. The Giants will try to reverse their fortunes this Sunday afternoon in MetLife Stadium, where, as of Thursday morning, the forecast is calling for a 50-percent chance of rain during the game.

“We’re certainly aware of the fact that the last two times we played were in our building,” Saints interim head coach Joe Vitt said on a conference call with Giants beat reporters. “They’re looking forward to getting us to drink their water and play on their turf in front of their crowd. This is going to be a big challenge for us. It’s one game at a time and I’m not smart enough and I’m not good enough to look past one game. We had a good practice today. We’ll continue to prepare the rest of the week and play the game on Sunday.”

Meanwhile, Drew Brees is 4-0 against the Giants (the first came when we was still with the Chargers in 2005) with 11 touchdowns and zero interceptions. He was asked why he has been successful against the Giants in a separate call with the New York media.

“I just think, for whatever reason, that’s the way it’s worked out,” Brees said. “I feel like we’ve always played in some big games; both teams have been successful, so they’ve been meaningful games at different points in the season. As far as the success level or not, I can’t say, other than just those have been games where we’ve been able to execute very well, and for whatever reason, we’ve been able to have success.”

Fantasy Preview: Thursday Night Football

Posted by Fantasy_101 on December 6, 2012 – 8:45 am

The views expressed in this article are not of the New York Football Giants but those of an independent Fantasy Expert.

fantasy-fb113111111TE Jacob Tamme, Broncos

Last Week: 89 yards

Tamme had his best game of the season last week with nine receptions for 89 yards.  Meanwhile, the Oakland Raiders rank 25th against the pass, allowing more than 250 yards per game.  Coming off arguably one of the most productive games of his career, look for Tamme to come up big again and possibly find the end zone for third third time this season.

WR Denarius Moore, Raiders

Last Week: 31 yards

Moore caught two passes for 31 yards in last Sunday’s 20-17 loss to the Cleveland Browns.  The hot start for Moore passed quickly, and in his last three games combined, he has four receptions for 60 yards and a touchdown. Compare that to Weeks 6-10, when Moore had four touchdowns, 22 catches and 389 yards.  Case and point: he’s due.
