TE Robinson waits to hear his number called

With Bear Pascoe unable to practice this week due to an ankle injury, that leaves two healthy tight ends on the 53-man roster. One is Martellus Bennett, who is second on the team with 45 catches, and the other is Adrien Robinson, a rookie who has dressed just twice this season.
On Wednesday, Tom Coughlin said his fourth-round draft pick out of Cincinnati is “going to have to get after it this week” when asked if he could step in for Pascoe if need be.
Robinson knows the opportunity is there, but he is keeping on the steady track tight ends coach Mike Pope has laid out for him.
“There hasn’t really been any difference,” Robinson said. “I’m just studying and watching film. Everything is pretty much the same. I’m waiting to see if my number gets called.”
Each week, a list of inactive players is submitted 90 minutes prior to kickoff, and Robinson’s number has been on it six times. Robinson suited up for the season opener against Dallas and again four weeks ago when Cleveland came to town. Robinson received a “couple snaps” against the Browns for his only playing time this season.
From the start of training camp, Robinson has been playing catch-up after missing most of the Organized Team Activities over the offseason due to his college scheduling.
At the halfway point of his rookie campaign, Robinson assessed his progress.
“I’m way more comfortable with the offense than I was at the beginning, missing OTAs and everything,” he said. “I’m finally caught up now. So I just have to earn the coaches’ trust and I’ll be out there.”

“….just have to earn the coaches’ trust and I’ll be out there.” Ah, there is the rub: to earn the coaches’ trustm one has to play and play well. Most often, it is another player’s problems which give a rookie the chance, but what will he do with it? Wish him well!

Hope Adrien gets a shot this week! I’ve seen him play in college! He is awesome!

He won’t play. The Giants activated Beckum and he is a TE, albeit a small one. Eli trust Beckum more than this rookie who he’s probably never even been on the same field with. Robinson will likely need two TE’s to go down before he sees action. He’s definitely a project.
