Cornerback Jayron Hosley was drafted by the New York Giants in the third round this past April. Throughout the season, the Virginia Tech product and Florida native will provide an inside look into his journey of making it in the NFL. This week’s post begins with Jayron coming back from a hamstring injury that sidelined him for two straight games. In his return against the 49ers, he recorded three solo tackles en route to a 26-3 victory in San Francisco.
It was a long two weeks on the road to recovery and getting healthy. I was ready to get back. It’s tough watching your team out there when you can’t be a part of it. You want to be a part of it, but those guys held it down while I was away. I was just ready to come back and do my part. I hadn’t ever missed much time in college, so this was unique. I had a little bit but nothing too serious. But at the end of the day, it’s always good to get healthy and be able to come back and contribute to my team.
That’s why it felt so great to get back on the field against the 49ers, and it was about just working back into the game mode. Being out two weeks, I was just catching up and getting back into the speed of things. I didn’t get much action, but for what I did get, I think it went pretty well.
It was one of those games where everybody is flowing on one accord. We were out there playing like an 11-man machine. When you have safeties back there like Antrel Rolle and Stevie Brown, you have that secondary just playing and sticking like glue. On top of that, we had great pressure up front. Our linebackers were playing their game, and everybody was out there flying around. And the offense did their job and did it well. They did a great job. It’s good to be a part of that. That’s what you want to see every Sunday.
It certainly made the flight back from San Fran feel a little shorter. That feeling on the flight back, there’s nothing like it. Everybody was feeling good, and everybody was ready to come back to work and play at home this week. Everybody was joking around and in a good mood. That’s what you want to be in when you play on the road. If coach is in a good mood, everybody is in a good mood on that plane.
