Rookie Blog: CB Jayron Hosley

Posted by Fantasy_101 on October 17, 2012 – 4:40 pm

Cornerback Jayron Hosley was drafted by the New York Giants in the third round this past April. Throughout the season, the Virginia Tech product and Florida native will provide an inside look into his journey of making it in the NFL. This week’s post begins with Jayron coming back from a hamstring injury that sidelined him for two straight games. In his return against the 49ers, he recorded three solo tackles en route to a 26-3 victory in San Francisco.

It was a long two weeks on the road to recovery and getting healthy. I was ready to get back. It’s tough watching your team out there when you can’t be a part of it. You want to be a part of it, but those guys held it down while I was away. I was just ready to come back and do my part. I hadn’t ever missed much time in college, so this was unique. I had a little bit but nothing too serious. But at the end of the day, it’s always good to get healthy and be able to come back and contribute to my team.

That’s why it felt so great to get back on the field against the 49ers, and it was about just working back into the game mode. Being out two weeks, I was just catching up and getting back into the speed of things. I didn’t get much action, but for what I did get, I think it went pretty well.

It was one of those games where everybody is flowing on one accord. We were out there playing like an 11-man machine. When you have safeties back there like Antrel Rolle and Stevie Brown, you have that secondary just playing and sticking like glue. On top of that, we had great pressure up front. Our linebackers were playing their game, and everybody was out there flying around. And the offense did their job and did it well. They did a great job. It’s good to be a part of that. That’s what you want to see every Sunday.

It certainly made the flight back from San Fran feel a little shorter. That feeling on the flight back, there’s nothing like it. Everybody was feeling good, and everybody was ready to come back to work and play at home this week. Everybody was joking around and in a good mood. That’s what you want to be in when you play on the road. If coach is in a good mood, everybody is in a good mood on that plane.

Inside the Locker Room: Prepping for the Redskins

Posted by Giants.com on October 17, 2012 – 3:00 pm

ImageDE Justin Tuck:
On a difficult matchup…
“The game is going to come down to the wire, a game we’re going to have to play our best ball to have a chance to win and they’re going to be motivated too…”

Safety Antrel Rolle:
On containing the Redskins’ offensive weapons…
“You know they’re a great football team. They beat us twice last year and they’ll be a better football team this year, so we definitely have our work cut out for those guys. They bring a lot of things to the offensive board…”

WR Victor Cruz:
On being motivated after two losses last year…
“It’s a new year and it’s a new team and you should be motivated to play any division foe so I think that in itself should be motivation for us”

DE Jason Pierre-Paul:
On preventing big plays…
“We’re going to make the play calls that try and stop everything they’re doing and you know, it’s going to be a hard game, like I said last week, it’s going to be a hard game. Each game that we play is hard so we’re just going to go out there and play our best football.”

Daily Blitz: NFL Fall Meeting

Posted by Dan Salomone on October 17, 2012 – 9:00 am

At the NFL Fall Owners Meeting, Commissioner Roger Goodell announced Tuesday there will be two regular season games in London for the first time. In addition to Jacksonville hosting San Francisco at Wembley Stadium on Oct. 27, 2013, as previously announced, Minnesota will host Pittsburgh a month earlier on Sept. 29 at the same venue.

“This is a very significant and important step going forward for our fans in the UK (United Kingdom), for the NFL in general and for the teams involved,” Goodell said.

Also at the meeting in Chicago, Goodell spoke about bid cities for upcoming Super Bowls L and LI. The Mercedes-Benz Superdome will host Super Bowl XLVII this postseason before coming to MetLife Stadium for XLVIII and University of Phoenix Stadium the following year.

“There will be three bid cities for Super Bowl L and LI – Houston, San Francisco, and South Florida,” he said. “The bids will be presented and owners will vote on both of those games at the May meeting in 2013. The owners will vote between San Francisco and South Florida regarding Super Bowl L. Owners will then vote at the same meeting on the host of Super Bowl LI between Houston and the runner-up from Super Bowl L.”
