LB Williams moves on from NFC Championship heroics
Posted by on October 10, 2012 – 4:37 pmJacquian Williams made the play that led to the turnover, that led to the field goal, that led to the Super Bowl.
The second-year linebacker says “big whoop.”
Asked what he remembers about forcing Kyle Williams’ fumble on a punt return that gave the ball back to the Giants on San Francisco’s 24-yard line in overtime, this was his response:
“That it happened last year,” he said today as his Giants prepare to face the 49ers for the first time since the NFC Championship. “I have put that away. It’s a new year, a new opportunity. They have a lot of the same players, but it’s a new team – for both of us. So it gives us a chance to go out and do something new.”
With some prying, he opened up. But not much.
“It was something that turned the game around,” he continued. “It was a big opportunity. Special teams stepped up. It was time special teams stepped up. It was a big play.”
He did agree, though, with his teammates that it was one of the most physically demanding games they have ever played. And he would do it all again if it meant making it to Indianapolis.
“It was a physical game,” he said. “But just to come out and help my team get to the Super Bowl, that [pain] didn’t exist.”

That was a real good heads-up play and it shows that he is a real “blue-collar” worker (lunch pail and all)! Hey us G-fans wouldn’t mind a repeat!

“It was a physical game,” Yes it was. However, for non-players, it would appear that when it is not a physical game, therein is your team’s higher chance of losing.
