Vote for Player of the Game
Posted by on September 21, 2012 – 1:19 amFollowing the Giants’ 36-7 win in Carolina, it’s time to vote for the Giants “Extra Effort” Player of the Game. Along with Eli Manning, a pair of first-time starters, Ramses Barden and Andre Brown, boosted the offense to a quick lead and took off from there.
Here are this week’s candidates and a look at their performances:
QB Eli Manning
27/35, 288 YDS, 1 TD, 0 INT, 110.2 RTG
Taking the opening drive 80 yards on eight plays – capped by a 14-yard touchdown to Martellus Bennett – Manning’s performance on Thursday night was as efficient as they come. Completing all but seven of 35 passes, Manning led the offense to scoring drives on eight of its 10 possessions. VOTE NOW
WR Ramses Barden
9 REC, 138 YDS (15.3 AVG), 23 LG, 10 TGTS
In all of 2011, Barden totaled nine receptions for 94 yards. He eclipsed those numbers in one game as he stepped up in place of injured Hakeem Nicks and Domenik Hixon. While he would not find the end zone, Barden led the team in all other receiving categories, including 10 targets. VOTE NOW
RB Andre Brown
20 CAR, 113 YDS (5.7 AVG), 2 TD, 3 REC, 17 YDS
Making his first career start in his home state of North Carolina, Brown received the opportunity he’s been waiting for since coming into the NFL in 2009. He powered the Giants’ rushing attack with 113 yards on 20 carries for an impressive 5.7-yard average. He also had two touchdowns from the goal line and added three catches for 17 yards out of the backfield. VOTE NOW

Great game with so many injuries. Nice to know the backups are capable of being true starters. Especially Barden; been waiting several years for him.

Ladson is reporting that Chris Marerro has torn his left hamnrtisg in winter ball. An already slow runner and below average fielder with that injury? He won’t be ready for spring training. Glad I am that I left him off of my list of top 10 bats I sent to Sue, must have had a premonition again I assume that means Tyler Moore moves up minimally starting at first base for the AAA Chiefs? And can someone explain why the Nats are interested in Mark DeRosa as a result of the Marerro injury?
