Vote for Player of the Game

Posted by Giants.com on September 16, 2012 – 8:29 pm

With the Giants’ thrilling 41-34 victory, it’s time to vote for the Giants “Extra Effort” Player of the Game. Struggling to score in the first half, the Giants offense opened up for 28 points in the second half.

Here are this week’s candidates and a look at their performances:

QB Eli Manning

31/51 passing, 510 YDS, 3 TD, 3 INT

Manning led the Giants to 510 net passing yards — the most in franchise history – and it was the first time they won a regular season game in which they threw at least 50 passes. Manning’s 510 yards were also the second-highest total by a quarterback in Giants history, next to Phil Simms’ 513 in 1985.

WR Hakeem Nicks

10 REC, 199 YDS (19.9 AVG), 1 TD, 50 LG

Nicks put up the sixth-best yardage total in franchise history and sparked the final go-ahead drive with a 50-yard reception late in the fourth quarter.

WR Victor Cruz

11 REC, 179 YDS (16.3 AVG), 1 TD, 80 LG

Cruz had a career-high 11 receptions and along with Nicks became the first tandem in NFL history to both record 10 catches and at least 175 yards receiving.

I think that all three of the candidates played a wonderful game but I have to pick Hakeem Nicks because that pass to him in the 4 quarter was tremendous and amazing and I was in shock.
I love BIG BLUE!!! BLEED G-MEN BLUE!!!!
I AM THE ULITIMATE GIANTS FAN!!!!!!!!!!!!
They played an amazing game and keep it up Big Blue!!
I LOVE YOU NEW YORK GIANTS!!!!!!

Our “Comeback Kid” Eli Manning did it again! He has a dismal 1st half but did what any elite QB does. He got over it and adjusted. Nicks and Cruz made amazing catches and runs for TDs but we have to hand it to our leader and captain. GO BIG BLUE!!!

Eli,Victor & Hakeem are my heroes. But where were Osi & Tuck.
    Although in 4th quarter our defense provided a lot 3 & 0uts.

How is no one talking about Andre Brown?

Andre brown established a much needed ground attack that might of made that arial assault possible

Victor Cruz made leaps of improvement since last week, But I would vote for Hakeem Nicks just for playing hurt and getting the job done no matter what the cost.
Andre Brown is still a wildcard, Could go either way, But from what he showed yesterday…I would say give him a chance to see what he can do from that #1 spot.(sorry Ahmad, some stars just have to shine!!)

How about our self proclaimed Pro Bowler…. Osi ?
After all, he averages one single tackle per game while giving up the run on a very consistent basis….

Justin Tryon SHOULD BE CUT ..now. I know we can find a better player – in High School… this guy SUCKS..He doesn’t belong on the field. Corey Webster again was getting toasted.. Our Secondary coach needs to have his ass chewed out. I don’t want to hear injuries – the backfield is like Swiss cheese with so many holes

Trade Osi for a corner or O lineman.

I agree, Defense looked very stiff.
Bucs are no joke, they have a decent offense but they are no means a 30+ point team….something needs to change or else we may not even get to huddle around our heaters to watch g-men in the playoffs this year.

It should be Hakeem Nicks MVP all day baby i love VCruzer but Nicks just flat out proved he’s one of the Elite 199 yds and he’s injured cmon man. AS far as defense man that secondary is sloppy Webster still off his game looking as if he’s been tipping the bottle and Tryon sorry man you gotta go Hosley is a much better corner than you dude and should start over you.
