Daily Blitz: Prediction Time

On the eve of NFL’s opening kickoff, pundits are handing in their predictions for the upcoming season. Here’s a look at their division forecasts for the Giants, the reigning NFC East and Super Bowl champs.
Dan Graziano, ESPN.com
NFC EAST FINISH: 1st
The Giants are flawed, but they’re strong where you need to be strong in this day and age — the passing game. When the big games need to be won, the Giants will win them.
John Clayton, ESPN.com
NFC EAST FINISH: 2nd
A tough schedule, injuries at defensive tackle and questions at offensive tackle could hold the Giants back from repeating as Super Bowl champs, but they are good enough to make the playoffs.
Adam Schefter, ESPN.com
NFC EAST FINISH: 2nd
One of sports’ top organizations faces many challenges in trying to win its third Super Bowl in six seasons.
Jeffri Chadiha, ESPN.com
NFC EAST FINISH: 1st
They lost some key role players in free agency but their strengths haven’t changed: clutch quarterback, game-changing receivers and a vicious pass rush. They’ll be ready to defend their Super Bowl title.
Ashley Fox, ESPN.com
NFC EAST FINISH: 1st
The Giants learned in 2008 how tough it is to repeat as Super Bowl champs. This is a veteran group with a quarterback clearly in his prime.
Bucky Brooks, NFL.com
NFC EAST FINISH: 2nd
Only injuries and complacency can keep the Giants from making another run at a Super Bowl with a talent-laden roster that is the envy of others. The Giants haven’t handled success well in the past, so it’s hard to imagine them defending their crown in 2012. Prediction: 9-7.
Daniel Jeremiah, NFL.com
NFC EAST FINISH: 1st
The Giants might be the least talked about defending Super Bowl champions in NFL history. Led by Eli Manning on offense and Jason Pierre-Paul on defense, they have all of the necessary pieces to make another push for a title. Prediction: 10-6.
Adam Schein, NFL.com
NFC EAST FINISH: 1st
Tom Coughlin, Eli Manning, a tough-minded approach to the fourth quarter and the big-game experience separate the defending Super Bowl champs from the pack in the division. Prediction: 10-6.
Steve Wyche, NFL.com
NFC EAST FINISH: 2nd
Eli Manning will firmly establish himself as the best quarterback in the division, but defending the Lombardi Trophy could prove too much week-to-week. Prediction: 10-6.
